I was on a coaching call a couple of months ago with a great coach named Ryan Clarkin. He said something during that call that blew my mind.
“How you spend your time is an investment”
Every minute you spend is an investment in what you are creating in your life. Whether it is deliberate or not.
This gave me pause.
When I first became a mother, it became extremely clear to me that the once leisurely amount of time I had, had now been constrained to the schedule and needs of another. When I had the twins, it was double time.
I told myself I would work away in this business slowly but surely as they got older and I would launch when they were in Kindergarten. I took classes, I read a lot of books. I put in the time and slowly but surely, here we are. Two years early.
There is, of course, a downside to this investment theory. I spent a lot of time in conflict with my husband. It was extremely emotionally jarring whenever we would fight or there was yet another problem. I gave this circumstance the power to determine my day. I invested my time and my energy into a cycle of endless frustration and emotional turmoil.
This year I’m not investing my time that way. I’m investing in solutions and results. Business building and constructing systems that invest my time the way I want it. Healthy, happy relationships with my family and children and a thriving, purpose-driven business.
How are you investing your time?
